Holiday Favorites Truth from E.M.

This week’s Truthful Tuesday is about this past holiday season, and it’s a question from PCGuyIV. Welcome back, Frank! I hope you had a great hiatus 🙂

His question for all of us is:

My question to you is, what was your favorite part of this holiday season?

Here is my list of favorites because I cannot pick only one thing:

  • It was my granddaughter’s first real Christmas, as she was barely 10 days old last Christmas.
  • We had some quality family time with great football games. (I am the biggest football junkie in the house, but my sis comes in at second place.)
  • My margaritas that I made were bomb. I made them so perfect this year.
  • I taught my daughter to make my noodles better than I have ever been able to make them.
  • I was without pain and without mental health issues for the first Christmas in a long time.

E.M.’s Truth about Good News

I decided the best way to write my Truthful Tuesday from Melanie (She’s subbing for Frank aka PCGuyIV) is to share headlines that I believe are “good news”. It was really hard to find any actual good news when I did a search on Bing. Everything is about Covid, Cuomo, and China…the three Cs.

Police Officer Lawsuits Pile Up Against Trump Over January 6th” by Politico

The reason why that article is good news is that Donald needs to be held responsible for all that mess. I cannot believe that it’s been almost a year in a few days. There are so many people to blame for that mess, and it’s good that some of the people who disrespected and attacked our nation’s capital are being put to justice. I have not been all that happy with the length of punishment for some, but at least something is happening about it.

Every Movie and Show That’s Coming to Netflix in January 2022” by People Magazine

This is good news because a bunch of the shows that I love is coming to Netflix, and I will be looking forward to watching some of the new seasons, like Ozark. TV makes me happy 😀 😀 There are a few older movies I will enjoy as well, like Gremlins and Willy Wonka.

That is all I could find that came across as good news. We are living in dire straits…*sigh*

E.M.’s Truthful Tuesday – 12/28/2021

Melanie B. Cee is substituting for PCGuyIV on Truthful Tuesday, and this week she wants to know our truths about how we are feeling about Covid and its variants.

Here are the questions:

Truthfully, how much faith do you have in the new versions of Covid that keep appearing?

I truly believe that new versions and variants are bound to surface because that’s what viruses and bacteria do, they mutate. As our bodies fight them, they find new ways to infect us until they are no longer potent, like a common cold.

Do you think they’ll eventually become something we accept just like we do influenza?

I do. As I stated in the first answer, eventually our bodies will produce the antibodies to fight the virus causing it to appear weakened. However, to do that, everyone needs to do their part.

Or do you think there’s possible a real cure ‘out there’?

Is there really a cure to anything? I think we get vaccinated to prevent dying from bugs and viruses, but after all of these years, we cannot cure AIDS or Cancer. *shrugs*

Alternatively, if you think Covid is a lot of tosh, feel free to share your opinion and reasons why (let’s all be respectful).

I think it is a real thing, and I hate that I do. Thanks to people sending solicitors to everyone’s doors, cold calls, and money lotteries, we are living in a big ole’ world of conspiracy theories and nonsense surrounding vaccinations of all sorts now, especially for the Rona jabs. If a clear choice would have been given and more transparency about the studies and trials of the vaccines, I think more people would have felt that it was a choice they wanted to make. I made a choice to read the trials before vaccinating, but some people would not know how to find that kind of information, which causes them not to be well-informed.

Somehow public health became right and left-wing politics and vice versa. *shrugs again* It is what it is. I am losing hope for humanity. It’s a pandemic, and we are the most divided we have ever been.

I think another Lollapalooza and the acid trips that come with that would cure the world and coronavirus *giggles*.

E.M.’s Pizza Truth

Melanie B. Cee is our host for this week’s Truthful Tuesday while PCGuyIV is spending some much-needed time in real life as many of us do this time of the year.

The question this week is:

Honestly, does pineapple belong on a pizza?    Do share your reasons for your ‘vote’.

My Honest, Unadulterated Opinion of an Answer is:

Fruit does not belong on pizza (lol), especially pineapple. I would not grab a piece of pineapple, slap it on a slice of panini (or something like that) and coat it with ham, pizza sauce, and cheese, bake it, and eat it, so I definitely would not put it on a pizza. Pizza is one of my favorite go-to meals when I want something fast and easy. It’s not my favorite thing to eat, but it is yummy without pineapple on it! *laughs*

E.M.’s Truthful Tuesday on Thursday

Photo by Suzy Hazelwood on Pexels.com

I am running behind this week because of my knee issue, but I am here with my answer to PCGuyIV’s Truthful Tuesday question regarding blogging.

This week’s question of truth is:

Exactly how important are likes to you on your blog, and how do you determine if you are going to click like on other bloggers’ posts?

My answer is:

I love when I get likes along with my visitors, and I get happy when I see my regulars liking my posts, mostly because I enjoy that they enjoy what I write. I also enjoy the conversation that comes from comments along with the likes as well.

When it comes to how to determine when I click like on another blogger’s post, I have to connect with it. Very rarely does Haiku speak to me since they are so short, but I love to read a meaningful story or poem, especially when someone allows themself to be seen through their writing. I do not randomly like posts for them to visit me. Their post has to trigger emotion within me, whether it be happiness, sadness, empathy, etc. That will get a definite like from me.

E.M.’s Upcoming Holiday Truths

This week on Truthful Tuesday, PCGuyIV asks us this question:

Whatever holidays you may celebrate this time of year, how ready for them are you?

To be honest, I am not nearly as prepared as I usually am, which means that I am not ready lol. I did get some shopping done today…not too late, but I missed the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. I hate waiting on a monthly check, but it is what it is right now. I wanted to get the girls those heirloom music boxes with the ballerinas, but they are so outside of my budget. Next year hopefully…

The Covid situation will not affect our family at all because we all live in the same house, while our other family members live in different states. We will have a good spread of food and gifts, and then we will all watch some Christmas shows on TV. Movies are a big thing for our family. Series, Movies, Football, and WWE. That about sums up our television 24/7.

New Year’s Eve will be me drinking margaritas and watching the ball drop on TV with my sister and daughter, and hopefully with the company of the fella that warms my heart…but we shall see. I don’t go out and about on New Year’s Eve because of all the drinkers that drive. I’m happy staying put, safe at home without a hitch or a stitch…or worse.

I guess I am as ready as I’ll ever be.

The Truth About Change for E.M.

This week’s Truthful Tuesday is about change. The prompt this week asks:

If you don’t run a prompt, what deliberate changes have you made to your blog since you first started blogging? In either case, have there been any unintentional changes that just sort of happened on their own?”

PCGuyIV

Here is my truthful answer regarding changes to my blog:

When I first started blogging, I was only writing little rambles about myself and writing poetry. As time has gone forward, I find myself doing much more because of the prompts that I have found in my fellow bloggers. When I first started blogging, I used my legal name, but after my dad passed in 2016, I began using the pen name of E.M. Kingston and started this blog with a blank canvas of building this name in regards to my writing. The name was to honor his pen name, S.A. Kingston.

I have been thinking of creating my own weekly prompt and daily word challenge since my blog is growing nicely. It’s because I enjoy using the word challenges and prompts so much, and they have been very helpful in making me a better writer. It’s a lot of inspiration in the WP world. Everything I have done on this blog has been unintentional because I just write, and I never thought I would find so many prompts that make my world a better place.

E.M.’s Truth for Tuesday

Today’s Truthful Tuesday is about life and how it decided to treat us on this November 16th Tuesday. PCGuyIV asks us how life is treating us and to share a truth about today.

My Tuesday has been traumatic to my body.

My dogs are rebellious at times, and they pee on things when they are ticked off at me. It’s annoying because they know to go outside, but they still find it necessary to show me who the boss is by pissing on something. To attempt to “retrain” them, I put a baby gate in the hallway that leads into the living room, since my sister’s chair corner and the arm of the couch had been my oldest, senile dog’s favorite places to give me the “what-for”.

So today, I climbed over the gate as usual with my short legs (I am only 4’11”), and my right set of toes catch the top of the gate in the worst way possible. Down I went! My knee hit first, and then I caught the rest of my body with my bad shoulder, wrist, and then my bum took some of the damage as well. I am sorer than I could imagine, and I have a purple goose egg below my knee cap. My feet are swollen from my bum taking the shock of the fall, and I am annoyed that we have to put a gate up for two bad babies that cannot stop hiking their legs. My shoulder blade in the back is screaming at me, and my right leg is cramping…and mind you that I did not fall on that one.

I am about to take my nighttime meds and take my sore bum to bed lol. I don’t know if I will be able to move in the morning, but here’s to hoping that my body heals itself in my slumber.

E.M.’s “Would You Rather” Truths

This week’s Truthful Tuesday from PCGuyIV asks us what we would rather do with two choices, and of course, mine are indecisive on some lol. I hope you enjoy my answers.

Would you rather:

  1. Do Housework or Yardwork?

Yardwork – I hate housework, especially dishes. I would much rather play in traffic than do dishes.
  2. Clean the Kitchen or the Bathroom?

Bathroom – I would say kitchen if I had a man in the house, but the bathroom is just myself and my daughter sharing. No nasty toilet habits lol.
  3. Do Laundry or Dishes?

    Laundry – See Question 1 about dishes…
  4. Mow or Edge the lawn?

Mow – although I am not able to do either of these.
  5. Get up early or Stay up late?

Stay up late! I do wake early, but I would rather stay up late and sleep in. I’m lazy lol.
  6. Cook or Eat Out?

Some days I love to cook, and some days I love to eat out. I would rather cook though.
  7. Go to a restaurant or Order take-out/delivery?

Depends on the situation…take-out with family but restaurants on special occasions or dates…
  8. Vacuum or Dust?

Dust…Me and the vaccuum are not friends lol.
  9. Have a Large Party or a Small Gatherings?

    Small gatherings
  10. Read Fiction or Non-fiction?

I actually enjoy both and prefer both. I love true crime novels, and I also love me a good fantasy or thriller in non-fiction.

E.M.’s Wednesday Truthful Tuesday

This week’s question was a little bit late, but I forgot yesterday was a Tuesday until I saw the pingback on the post from PCGuyIV for the Truthful Tuesday prompt *snickers*. Medicine has been making me a little forgetful, and I am losing track of time sometimes. It’s all good! Let’s tell some truths.

The Questions

Frank says and asks, “Today’s questions are a bit more in the vein of Fandango’s Provocative Questions. These questions could almost be considered different angles on the same question, but I figured I would be a bit more specific.

  • What are your thoughts on white-washing in movies and tv shows? (If you aren’t aware, it’s having a white actor play a role of a non-white character. Think of Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, or Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One in Dr. Strange.)

  • What are your thoughts on changing the race, gender, orientation, or other facet of an established character for the sake of diversity? For recent examples, casting Liet Kynes as a woman in the newest movie adaptation of Dune when the source material clearly indicates Kynes is a man, casting a black man (specifically Samuel L. Jackson) as Nick Fury, who was originally a white character, in the Marvel movies, or making Lt. Sulu gay in the most recent Star Trek movies with Chris Pine as Captain Kirk.”

My Short and Concise Answer:

It’s modern-day cancel culture. It happens too often, and it needs to stop in both instances.
