When You Need An Angel ~ [Trigger Warning]

Dawn rose against the dark clouds in the distance. The things that happened last night seemed to feel like a blur. She remembered they had laughed. She remembered that her glass kept filling up again and again. She felt pain in her arms as she stretched them up towards the sky, and she did not know the surroundings that greeted her as she awoke in her own presence. What had he done to her?

The tips of her fingers were covered in crimson, and the dress that shouldered its way down her body looked tattered and torn. It was nearly falling off. The mists of the morning dew sat atop the hairs that stood up on her neck as she discovered her appearance. Even without a mirror, she could feel the pain aching all over her skin.

She cried for a moment, in quiet, at her recollection of the events. The wind whirred inside of her ears like a hurricane in the summer as she looked up to see a new face.

The friendly, female face speaks to her and says, “Are you okay? I’ve called for help.”

Without hesitation, she looks up at the face, and asks, “Are you an angel?”

The older woman smiles, and she sits beside her. She says to the battered woman, “I can be your angel if you need one, dear.”

“I think I do…”, and the abuse puddles up as tears in her eyes as the abused woman looks into the eyes of the nice woman, “will you stay with me?”

“I could not even think of leaving you. Help will be here soon.”

They sat together until the ambulance arrived, and the sweet, woman stayed with Shawna selflessly for the length of their lifetime.
