E.M.’s Sunday Ramble Prompt #8

Welcome back to the next Sunday Ramble. For those that are just joining us, the Sunday Ramble Prompt will be based upon a certain topic. I will ask five questions (This week = six questions) about that topic, and you can ramble on however you wish. This post will be scheduled for 5 a.m. PST (California Time) every Sunday.

This week’s topic is “Zombies, Aliens, and Apocalypse…Oh My!“.

Here are the questions:

  1. Choose one person from history you would want on your team in a zombie apocalypse. Why would you choose them?
  2. What is your weapon of choice in that zombie apocalypse?
  3. If Mars was to enter the Earth’s atmosphere safely, and it became able to sustain life, would you choose to live on Earth or to check out Mars?
  4. What do you think they keep at Area 51?
  5. Do you have a favorite show about space or aliens that you enjoy watching?
  6. Bonus Question: Do you like to watch zombie movies or television shows?

Once you have answered all of the questions, be sure to tag it with #EM-SRP and create a pingback to this post.

Please visit your fellow bloggers to see their rambles. It’s a nice way to get to know them *smiles*

Here are my answers:

  1. Choose one person from history you would want on your team in a zombie apocalypse. Why would you choose them?

Amelia Earhart ~ She can fly planes and get me away from the zombies before I kill over and have a heart attack. I am deathly afraid of zombies, along with clowns and creepy porcelain dolls. πŸ˜€
  2. What is your weapon of choice in that zombie apocalypse?

The Ghostbuster’s Proton Wand with the box to trap the SOBs in. However, I would need it modified by Tim the Toolman Taylor to work instantly instead of having to fight them into the trap with the electricity.
  3. If Mars was to enter the Earth’s atmosphere safely, and it became able to sustain life, would you choose to live on Earth or to check out Mars and live there permanently?

As much as it sounds good to go live somewhere else, I would probably stay here because I don’t want to start over again. I think our planet is being killed by too many people on it, so it would be cool to have a split population. I could only hope all of the jerks head to Mars and leave Earth alone.
  4. What do you think they keep at Area 51?

Honestly, everything they do not want us to see is at Area 51. I don’t know if that is aliens or dinosaurs. It could be nukes. All I know is that for one place to be so heavily guarded that it has to be something that would change the way we choose to live our lives if we knew those things existed. It’s kind of like the Vatican…except it’s guarded with guns instead of priests.
  5. Do you have a favorite show about space or aliens that you enjoy watching?

My favorite movie about space is The Core, with Armageddon coming in second place. I will give third place to The Abyss.
  6. Bonus Question: Do you like to watch zombie movies or television shows?

Heck to the NO! I cannot even watch the original zombie movies without night terrors. There is something really creepy and effed up about an undead person wanting to eat your flesh…eww!

I look forward to seeing your responses!

xoxo, E.M.

  4. This is such an interesting topic! However, I’m completely clueless about it, hardly even knowing what zombies even are. I mean, I’m in the middle of the first ever post-apocalyptic novel I’ve ever read (After the Cure by Deirdre Gould) and, as the title suggests, in it, the zombies get cured of their zombieness. So yeah, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to partcipate this time.

Excellent topic. I love zombies, fleshcravers, flesh eaters … and sharks and porcupines and rambling, l have been known to talk the back legs off a donkey on a favourite subject!

Choose one person from history you would want on your team in a zombie apocalypse. Why would you choose them?

Mm, this would be difficult – it would be a toss up between George Clooney who was an excellent zombie destroyer in Dusk To Dawn, or maybe The Mountain from Game of Thrones for his sheer strength. If l wanted humour then more than likely the never to be split duo Shaun and Ed from Shaun of the Dead! Although if one could tame them, Freddy from Elm Street or Jason from Friday 13th would tear the asses off the zombies!!

I suppose push come to shove, l would have to have Alice from Resident Evil fame! But if it has to be someone from history, then l can only go for one mean grumpykickass monster slayer and l guess that would be .. The Witcher!

What is your weapon of choice in that zombie apocalypse?

Best weapon for zombie kills? This is a remarkably tough question … l mean if the zombies are here for good, bullets will eventually run out and so guns are out of the question. You need a multifunctional weapon that you can use efficiently and smoothly, but is light but deadly – this would mean some kind of wooden hafted metal bladed edge perpas a jagged saw like edge with a double edge sword on the reverse and a spike at the top? A kind of baseball BAT type of serrated sword and saw machette hatchet spike – yes that’ll do nicely, or like Michonne from The Walking Dead – a katana.

If Mars was to enter the Earth’s atmosphere safely, and it became able to sustain life, would you choose to live on Earth or to check out Mars and live there permanently?

Probably, but if that was to happen somehow who knows what other planets might be dropping in for tea too πŸ™‚

What do you think they keep at Area 51?

If l told you that l would have to you killed horribly by the residents – sorry top secret an’ all πŸ™‚

Do you have a favorite show about space or aliens that you enjoy watching?

Many – from today and yesterday. Lost in Space remake and the old 60’s one. Twilight Zone, X-Files, My Favourite Martian, Resident Alien, Alf, The outer limits.

Bonus Question: Do you like to watch zombie movies or television shows?

Yes very much so …. l think l hide it well though πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Bloke! Welcome to my prompt! I thoroughly enjoyed your answers. Thanks for reminding me about Alice, as I think she would be an effective team member against the zombies…that lil female is crazy. Also I always forget that Alf was an alien, so I loved that reminder as well πŸ™‚ I love the answer for Area 51 πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Thanks for rambling with me this week! It’s nice to meet you!

Hey EM, you are most welcome, it was refreshing to see a great prompt right up my alley πŸ™‚

        Many thanks.

Alice is controlled crazy which makes it better, Jason and Freddy would be masters of the slay but either one would be quite unstable l feel – l mean with one, you’d never fall asleep EVER again, and the other just has a serious chip on his shoulder with hockey and we would probably end up as pucks to his humour!!

            Totally!

On the technical side – Jason is a serious filmmaker’s cash cow …. on the confusing side – why is Jason even around?

In the very first film he was dead anyway or missing – so he couldn’t die, because he is dead maybe, but it was his mother who was the killer – Pamela, then we saw her die, she was beheaded, she doesn’t keep coming back … or is it simpler? no one can basically stop him — or is it one of Freddy’s nightmare visions?

The theory is that Jason is a demon possessing the bodies of his kin…

OR maybe Jason and Michael and Freddy are one!!

          2. The demon theory makes the most sense to me πŸ™‚ Michael is another one that I just wish would stay down *laughs* I don’t watch much horror/thriller flicks anymore, but I used to be so afraid of Michael. Jason movies made me laugh for the most part.

I am enjoying this conversation, Rory! Thanks so much!

            Me too πŸ™‚

The demon theory is the most logical in a world of make believe and illogical. But l was thinking only last night that the world is already filled with zombies anyway – it’s the old spoof joke about people walking around looking at their phones and not seeing the world around them change.

The original FT13 films were seriously good, l remember watching 1 and 2 on the big screen 1980 and 1981 and they were GREAT! Things went downhill afterwards and by the time we were getting onto the film number of 127 well okay, there are only 12 movies, BUT point being several never made it to the big screen, most ended up being fed into video.

Halloween did pretty well as a franchaise with 13 films, and for the most part they were pretty good, there were a few bummers too. 1978, 2018, 1981, 1988 and 1982 were the best for me. The rest were really disjointed.

Elm Street franchaise … comprises of way fewer films only 9, but it had better rankings for the fans. Best being these 3 only for me 1984, 1994, 1987.

I used to watch horrors all the time, then one day back in 2015 [broad daylight too] l tried watching Annabelle – freaked me right out – haven’t been able to watch horrors like l used to. The music is always chiller killer anyway. I remember Halloween’s score for the first time and literally think GULP!! I can still watch zombie flicks and enjoy them. I did watch Netflix The Haunting of Hill House in 2018 and that was pretty brave on my side hahaha , but some horrors l can’t do it anymore.

The biggest monster of all though is probably ourselves – so if we had to build a team to support US in the zombie zones, our first priority would be asking whether we felt we could actually survive first and foremost because we could have the best slayers in the world with us, but if we are the weakest link, we might end up being one of the first killed by our help rather than our foes πŸ™‚

I tried watching the Paranormal Activity film series – big HUGE mistake late at night!

          4. I am deathly afraid of dolls, so I am with you on Annabelle, Rory! It’s all Chucky’s fault that I hate dolls! The Nun scared the bajeebies out of me too. Then the other that started my fear of scary horror flicks was The Grudge. That throat echo made me so scared that my night terrors intensified. Maybe it was the tone of the voice and the death rattle about it.

I also cannot watch the movie series of Paranormal Activity. It just gets too real for me. Even in the daytime, I get so scared. The other one that scared me was When A Stranger Calls. The anticipation of horror and detriment triggers me I suppose.

            Hey Em πŸ™‚

Chucky never got me in the first film, Buuuuuuuuuut the films that followed did a number on my brain, so yeah, DOLLS need to stay being simplistic plastic bodies and nothing more, haunted teddybears would do me in as a collector of teddybears. But haunted dolls and teddybears makes for good horror because of the nefariousness and insidiousness that as children we used to share so much with them …. creepy all by itself!

The grudge strangely didn’t effect me per say BUT the Ring!!! Shyshus! That creey dance she did from the well freaked fifty shades of bat shit crazy yike from me!

The Nun for me was a complete NUN of that thank you πŸ™‚

WASCalls oh yes l remember seeing that .. luckily in the days l could handle horrors easily. in the babysitting genres of freaky – there are many candidates and l know WASC is listed there. But others that can work a number on parents wanting to use the services would be Halloween!! Fright, The Babysitter, Alone in the Dark, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle …. need l say more πŸ™‚

          6. Oh yeah! I forgot all about Samora! I couldn’t watch that show with my eyes open 🀣🀣🀣 My sister is a horror junkie, so I avoid the TV when she gets the chance to watch all her scary movies on Vudu lol. She has replica dolls of Chucky and Annabelle 😱😱

The original IT gives me night terrors as well.
