E.M.’s Sunday Ramble Prompt #7

Welcome back to the next Sunday Ramble. For those that are just joining us, the Sunday Ramble Prompt will be based upon a certain topic. I will ask five questions about that topic, and you can ramble on however you wish. This post will be scheduled for 5 a.m. PST (California Time) every Sunday.

This week’s topic is “Books“.

Here are the questions:

  1. Do you prefer digital, paperback, or hard bound books?
  2. Do you have a library full of books or just your favorite tales?
  3. Harry Potter, Narnia, or Twilight? (You can choose all three or pick and choose.)
  4. Do you like when books are turned into movies? Why or why not?
  5. What is a book that you have read over and over again?

Once you have answered all of the questions, be sure to tag it with #EM-SRP and create a pingback to this post.

Please visit your fellow bloggers to see their rambles. It’s a nice way to get to know them *smiles*

Here are my answers:

  1. Do you prefer digital, paperback, or hard bound books?

I am not a fan of digital forms of textbooks because I like annotation with little sticky notes. I prefer paperback and hard bound books. In many books, I use Audible. However, eBooks are good too on my tablet and PC, not so much on my phone though.
  2. Do you have a library full of books or just your favorite tales?

I have a collection of college textbooks and my favorite books. I need more to be honest. I have always wanted to have a full bookcase of good books.
  3. Harry Potter, Narnia, or Twilight? (You can choose all three or pick and choose.)

Narnia and Twilight…mostly because all of my Harry Potter books got stolen back in the early 2000s. I had a set of the books, whichever ones were released back then.

With Narnia, I fell in love with it by reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

Twilight I read all four books front to back in 4 days because we had a huge ice storm in Arkansas. It knocked out the power for 11 days, so there was nothing else to do but read and play games. I fell in love with the saga and how Stephanie Meyer expressed the love between Bella and Edward. When the movies came out, I don’t think they got the vibe right between them. Bella was more sassy, and Edward was more protective in a sweet way in the books. He would never be as abrasive as he was portrayed in the movie.
  4. Do you like when books are turned into movies? Why or why not?

It depends on the movie and the book. My favorite author is Stephen King, and I think they have done well with turning some of his movies to books.

I think when books are turned to movies that they lack the emotion and expression that the author puts into the words of the book versus how it transcribes on film. We work hard to make our words visible, but sometimes I think the directors fall short on getting that vibe put into films. They sometimes do not have the expression of the imagination.
  5. What is a book that you have read over and over again?

Bag of Bones by Stephen King

I look forward to seeing your responses!

xoxo, E.M.
