E.M.’s World – 12/13/2021

Each week, Melanie hosts a prompt called Share Your World. It’s a fun prompt that allows you to share a little bit of yourself with the WordPress World and beyond. I enjoy this prompt and look forward to it!

Here are the questions (along with the Gratitude Section):

What is your opinion of the state of health care in your country?  Adequate or inadequate?  What could be done to improve it?

What are two words that describe you best?

Do you have a morning routine? If so, what it’s like?

What’s something that really makes your blood race?

Do you enjoy singing festive songs during *insert festive celebration that you observe to replace “Christmas” if it’s not relevant to you * Christmas carols or songs?

GRATITUDE SECTION  (as always optional)

Feel free to share something that brings peace to you.

Here are my answers and affirmation:

What is your opinion of the state of health care in your country?  Adequate or inadequate?  What could be done to improve it?

I feel like the state of health care in the United States is inadequate. I do not want to get too political, but money talks in this country in all regards to human rights. If you got a good deal of money and great insurance, you get a different level of care than someone who is on a government-assisted health plan and low income. Every person…regardless of social and financial status…should receive the same level of care. It just doesn’t happen and never will because that is who we are. Sad…but true.

What are two words that describe you best?

Emotional and Benevolent…

Emotional describes me because I am a very strong empath, and I suck up everyone’s emotions when I choose to or when I forget to ground myself. It can consume me or make me stronger. I try to be stronger with empathy than the latter. I wear my heart on my sleeve, which is sometimes a downfall, and I give my heart to those that I feel love for without restraint. I do not put up many walls unless I feel a certain way about a person.

Benevolence describes me because I am one of those that will give the shirt off my back if it will help someone. I do a lot of volunteering in my community, and I love to help people. I took a job quiz one time, and it highlighted my helping hand and caring for other people. I would not be happy in sales. I have to be working for the greater good, or I am not a happy person.

Do you have a morning routine? If so, what it’s like?

I do have a morning routine, and if it gets disturbed, I don’t wake up the right way…if that makes sense. I have to do certain things before I feel alive and awake lol.

My routine is this:

  • I wake by 9:30 a.m.
  • Restroom while the dogs get antsy because they have to go too lol.
  • Grab my coffee from the fridge (I make a pitcher of iced coffee), and then I head out for a smoke.
  • Cigarette time and I play my game on my cell phone while I smoke… Fishing Clash.
  • 2nd cigarette and more fishing
  • Come inside, make coffee (if I am low in the fridge), and go to my room. Take my medication.
  • Check my notifications on WP and respond to comments.
  • Go through my tabs on my browser and get the new daily word challenges and prompts. I write them all down in my notebook.
  • Go back outside for a smoke and think about the words and the novel I am writing.
  • Go inside to my room, coffee in hand, and get busy writing.

My Sundays are different in football season. I check on the games when I come inside, then check my notification, and then grab prompts. I start writing until games come on.

Now, if someone interrupts the above-said process…I get frustrated. It’s how I function because it is the same each day. Before I was religiously blogging, those blogging steps were homework steps because I was in college. After graduation, this routine started to keep me from losing my mind. I cannot stand to just sit and not know what I want and need to do. With blogging, it has helped me maintain myself and my illness. When I had my spirals, it was hard to not know what to do with myself. All of you have helped me manage my mental wellness. Thank you.

What’s something that really makes your blood race?

Racism. Donald Trump. Wrongful convictions. Mass incarceration for the rich to get richer due to private prison. The fact that there is no such thing as corrections or rehabilitation because the justice system makes money on recidivism. People that find they have a right to judge me for the choices that I make in MY life.

That’s just a few things *cheesy grin* that makes my blood race…or boil.

Do you enjoy singing festive songs during *insert festive celebration that you observe to replace “Christmas” if it’s not relevant to you * Christmas carols or songs?

I do, but not for the entire month of Christmas. Christmas week, I approve the plethora of Christmas songs on the radio and Christmas movies on TV. I cannot listen and watch them all month long. Otherwise, by the time Christmas comes, I am burnt out on Christmas lol.

My favorite carols are Silent Night, Rudolph, White Christmas, and any of the other ones that Bing Crosby sang. I grew up with my grandma playing that record on Christmas Eve when everyone would come over. I miss her.

Iced Coffee (Mocha) and Cigarettes! My caffeine and my nicotine keep everyone free of my wrath if I do not have them.

  1. Thank you Amelia for Sharing Your World! The USA has (had?) a world class health care system, but then politicians got involved, greedy and without ethics. Now it is what you described. It is true that money talks the loudest over here if you want something done, be it health care related or something as simple as getting a good seat in a popular restaurant (prior to Covid obviously). We have a broken country, I’m sad to say. It’s rude (in my opinion) to interrupt someone in their usual routine. As with you, some folks don’t take kindly to being interrupted. We all have things that are necessary for the world to function well for us. I enjoyed your answer to the Christmas songs too! Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Melanie! It was a lot of fun, and I got to ramble on. You know how much I love to ramble lol. “Greedy and without ethics” is a great way to describe the US lol. I used to be very proud of this country, but it’s hard these days. Are you ready for Christmas? You have a great week as well!
