The Color of E.M.’s Winter Day

This is my first time doing this color challenge, and Sue W‘s weekly color prompt asks us, “What colour is your winter’s day?”

My winter days used to be white, icy, and cold as you can imagine since I grew up in the Midwest. Winter and snow have never been my favorite by any means. I would be really mad if it started snowing where I live in California, though I did believe it would be warmer here than it is in the winter.

The picture above is what my winter day reminds me of what it used to look like in Illinois when winter showed its ugly head. I grew up in a town called Danville, and it was very cold in the wintertime. This picture looked like the neighborhood we lived in.

I remember walking to school in the snow and having it packed on my jeans and my coat by the time I got to the bus stop. We would have to get those big snow boots when I was in 5th and 6th grade. They were waterproof, and I would have to take my tennis shoes in my backpack, which was always full of books. I always hated messing with the boots and the snow.

Now, in California, my winter’s day is clear, heavy rain. It’s windy and cold. Every time the rain comes, the wind blows hard and gusty. I am not sure what color that would be, except gray and foggy white.

xoxo, E.M.
